Usually, on our final day, we hang out, explore, shop and get ready for the big trip home…

We visited many of the churches in downtown Munich, along with the Hofgarten, and English Garden as well.  

Yes, we even stopped by the fairly new Apple Store in Munich, very cool!

We stopped by and watched the Isar river surfers too (you can see them too):

Between seeing awe-inspiring castles & scenery – today is definitely a day we won’t forget.

Here’s a small sample for you – looking out of Castle Neuschwanstein to the mountains & lake:

We started our day at 4′ Celsius (that’s in the low 40’s Fahrenheit) – we were quite shocked! It’s been in the 60’s and 70’s.

I sure hope you’re enjoying this trip ‘remotely’ as much as we are in person.

Today’s our last day with Dad & Kim, they had back to the states in the morning – so we headed to Salzburg, Austria (1 hour 30 minute train ride from Munich) to explore!

Keep in mind, Austria famous for being Mozart’s Birthplace, and for the scenes in the movie the “Sound of Music”.

After an awesome time in Salzburg, we headed back to Munich and hit the Hofbrauhaus!

Today started out with a few train rides – taking us from Rothenburg to downtown Munich!   Even though that sounds fairly simple, it was somewhat exhausting!

As soon as we checked into our hotels, we walked downtown and visited the Residenz Treasury & Rooms.   WOW!

Tomorrow, we take the train to Salzburg (Mozart’s birthplace) and then hit the Hofbrauhaus in Munich!

Rothenberg is essentially the same as it was a few hundred years ago (at least from first glance)!

We had a great day walking, shopping (dad got a killer hand painted chess kit), and eating!

We toured the Criminal Museum, and saw LOTS of methods they used to use for torture and death… Yuk!

We ended the night at 8pm by taking the Night Watchman Tour, I captured the intro (which is hilarious) and will put it up when we get to our next destination.

We started out in Bacharach…

Today, we:

• spent 2+ hours on the train from Bacharach to Darmstadt,
• had a great afternoon with Fred in Darmstadt (thanks again!!), and then
• spent 3+ hours on the train from Darmstadt to Rothenberg…

Today, we’re all in good spirits, even though we’re really sore from the 10+ mile of walking we did yesterday…

For starters today, we boarded the boat and traveled up the Rhine, past the Lorelei to St. Goar.

In St. Goar, we:

• toured Burg Rheinsfel (Castle!) – amazing!
• ate lunch at Hotel Am Markt, and
• did a little shopping downtown.

After that we hopped on the train, and headed to Cologne (about a 1 and a half hour trip north) to see the Cologne Cathedral.   It was amazing as well!

Got back into Bacharach about 9:30pm, what a full day!

Today’s weather, warmer at 71′ & sunny!  Very nice.

Gute Nacht!

Well, my dad has learned some German, and wants to share it with you…

Impressive, eh?

Today was absolutely amazing – we started the day with a delicious breakfast (Frühstück auf Deutsch) here at Hotel Am Markt in Bacharach…

Then we, literally, ran to the train station to catch the 9:30am ride to Moselkern.

Once in Moselkern, we walked 5 miles (each way) through the town, then the outskirts, and finally into a magical forest, and ended up at Burg Eltz!

We ate at Burg Eltz, and toured the Castle, it was really awesome, we totally recommend it (and the walk, although long, you see and smell truly amazing things!)

After Burg Eltz, we walked back to the train station and just after I took a shot of the Feuerwehr (Fire Station) in Moselkern, I promptly dropped my camera on the concrete busting it open and killing its ability to focus (the one time I don’t have my wrist cord on! UGH!)

LUCKILY, Dad & Kim volunteered their camera for the duration of the trip, and I diligently wear the wrist cord now…

Once I did damage control as we waited at the train station, we took off for Koblenz to have dinner (a great Italian restaurant) and see the Deutsches Eck.

Today’s weather, a little chilly at 62′ F! No problem we dressed in layers.

Guten Abend!

We left Fort Myers yesterday at around 1:45pm, flew to Charlotte, NC, left there about 4:40pm, and in a little under 8 hours – landed in Frankfort, Germany!

The flight was great – very smooth, and I got to see that the new Macbook Pro’s really do last 6+ hours, it outlasted me (I watched Yes Man with Jim Carrey) and did a lot of Web Marketing work.

Once we landed, around 6:30am local time (12:30pm Florida time), we caught up with my dad and step-mom, Kim, and hit the Regional Train to Bacharach on the Rhine River!
