I’m in Success Magazine – Nov 08 Issue!

Now this is pretty cool…

I received my latest issue of Success Magazine, and I made it in there!

What’s really interesting about it is the leads it’s generated for Internet Services Group!  Quite a few people have searched directly in Google, visited our web site, and inquired.

As a matter of fact, today, we just landed a web site development job in Las Vegas directly from me being in the magazine!  Whoo hoo!

I’ve developed a News Release around this, and I’ll be posting it soon on the ISG web site –

The release talks about how I grew up around passionate people, my mom, my dad, my grandparents, and how they’ve all really enjoyed what they’ve done relating to work & income.

In the release, I also talk about how I started a new company on my birthday this year called Interesting Ventures, LLC which is all about promoting what the different topics I’m passionate about for the benefit of many.

You can see one of my Interesting Ventures projects here — it’s still under development, but you get the idea:

I’ve got a couple other sites in the works, and you’ll be able to see them soon, too.

Well, that’s all for now — if you happen to be in a bookstore, check it out!  I’m on the page facing Jay Leno (about 12 pages in).

Have a great day!

Like Guns N Roses? You must read this

Book Reviews 2 Comments »

I’ve only had it happen twice before – where I’ve sat down to read a book, and just couldn’t put it down — reading it through the night.

With Watch You Bleed, it happened again.

I would consider Guns N Roses to be my favorite band of all time, I’d also consider “Estranged” to be one of the best songs ever written.  Not only because I connect to it lyrically, but it’s one of the only songs that make me feel like I’m riding a stream of consciousness.

In an 8 minute song, Estranged nails so many moods – lyrically & musically.

I found Watch You Bleed very enlightening because:

  • it told what really went on from day one with each of the original band members of Guns N Roses – not a media-fied version,
  • I found that when the original GNR called themselves a gang, they’d been living like one (all but Duff, essentially homeless, living on the streets for a few years),
  • it helped me levelize Axl’s presence in the band; for whatever reason, I thought he was the catalyst behind each of the songs; although his voice & stage delivery really sent them home, he wasn’t as responsible for the songs as I thought, and
  • most importantly, you feel the constant buzz of passion through all of the drugs, STDs, drinking and rise of the band…

If you enjoy Appetite for Destruction — you’ll love this book, as it dives into each song headfirst, and tells you its history, its evolution, and in most cases, why it was chosen for the album.

One thing that’s certain with today’s economy, everyone is thinking about money…

Over the last 6 months, I’ve been on a mission to review and reduce all expenses, both personally, and for my business.  I aim for 10%, but usually get 20% to 35%.

It’s been very rewarding!

On a side note, I’ve found it interesting that many people don’t seem to make the connection that:

  • Saving money,
  • Making more money, and
  • Spending less money

all go hand-in-hand, putting more money in your wallet.

A few days ago I e-mailed my car & boat insurance representative to recalculate my insurance rates — aiming to reduce them 10% (my latest insurance premium arrived 10% higher than the previous term).

My request was simple.

After bringing my boat policy down about 6%, and essentially ignoring my auto-policy request — I pressed for a second time to do whatever it took to reduce my auto policy 10%, the response I received was:

“I have a new auto program the first of the year.
[We'll] get back with you then if it is ok.”

This answer was completely unacceptable.

With the power of the Web, I decided to take into my own hands…

I’m incredibly happy I did — check this out!

Within 10 minutes, I had created my own quote on Progressive’s web site, and here’s the results:

2 Cars (Semi-Annual Term, Same Coverage):

  • Allstate Policy:  $ 1,256.82/semi-annual
  • Progressive Policy: $ 588.83/semi-anual

Total Savings: $1335.98 per year!

1 Boat (Annual Term):

  • Old Allstate Policy: $524.04/year
  • New Progressive Policy: $288/year

Total Savings: $236.04 per year

So that’s that.  I’m a Progressive customer, and enjoying the savings.
